(CABA) Desde que el histórico zoológico de Buenos Aires cerró sus puertas en 2016 para convertirse en el Ecoparque, un espacio destinado a la “concientización ambiental”, el Gobierno de la Ciudad comenzó una serie de inauguraciones dentro del predio de Palermo para “incluir” a los vecinos en el proceso de transformación. Hoy se suman tres nuevos lugares: el Centro de Rescate de Fauna Marina, el Reptilario y un nuevo Hospital.
Se trata de tres espacios que no estarán abiertos al público totalmente, sino que están destinados a la atención médica, conservación y mejoramiento de la fauna animal que todavía vive en el ex zoo y de los animales que ingresan rescatados del mar o del tráfico ilegal.

Estos nuevos espacios están ubicados en el camino que unirá los dos ingresos al Ecoparque y podrá ser recorrido a partir de abril, pero sólo con turno previo y con visitas guiadas.
“Estas obras que estamos presentando apuntan a mejorar los trabajos de conservación animal y al compromiso con la puesta en valor de todo el predio”, señaló el ministro de Ambiente y Espacio Público de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Eduardo Macchiavelli.
El ministro apuntó que, si bien la fecha prevista para concluir el proyecto en su totalidad es en 2022, se encuentran muy avanzados y es posible que se adelante un año.
Los accesos por Libertador y Sarmiento y la entrada principal por Plaza Italia, que ya están abiertos al público, seguirán siendo de entrada libre y gratuita y sin visita guiada.
Si bien algunos animales de los que no pueden ser trasladados seguirán a la vista del público, será con un mayor control del flujo de visitantes. “Creemos que las visitas que vengan van a ser más conscientes y nuestro fin es educar en el respeto a la fauna y mostrar el trabajo que estamos haciendo para contribuir a dar mejor vida a los animales”, explicó a Infobae Rodrigo Fariña, encargado general del área educativa del Ecoparque.
El Centro de Rescate de Fauna Marina
El centro formará parte de la Red de Rescate, Rehabilitación y Reintroducción de Fauna Marina.
Se construyeron ocho piletas que ya albergan a 8 lobos marinos que viven en el parque y a tortugas marinas y pingüinos.
El Reptilario
El nuevo reptilario concentrará los esfuerzos de conservación de especies de la región chaqueña. A través del rescate y cría para su liberación, se trabajará en serpientes, tortugas y lagartos amenazados.
Es una obra que puso en valor la antigua “Casa de los Ciervos” y alojará a los reptiles del Ecoparque.
Hospital de fauna silvestre
Se encuentra en el antiguo recinto de papiones. Consiste en la remodelación, modernización y ampliación de los espacios e instrumentos para la conservación de las especies que incluye una nursery para cría de especies amenazadas.
A principios de marzo, abrieron un área de 1,1 hectárea ubicada sobre la esquina de Sarmiento y Avenida del Libertador, donde se encuentran los antiguos edificios de boletería, la vieja sala de bombas y la fuente del Pescador Pescado. También se recuperó el lago conocido como El Estanque y habrá un sector que funcionará como “mirador de jirafas”.
