La depuración del plantel, la renovación de rostros y los resultados positivos -en general- fueron aristas vitales para que la paz en el grupo volviera a reinar.
2 · CLASIFICAR A LA COPA LIBERTADORES 2020
Boca culminó en la tercera colocación de la Superliga 2018/2019 y se aseguró un boleto en la fase de grupos del certamen continental por excelencia del año próximo. Desde que llegó al club Alfaro, Boca cosechó 8 triunfos, 3 empates y solamente 1 caída en el certamen regular previo a la Copa de la Superliga (27 puntos sobre 36 en disputa, con el 75% de efectividad).

En la zona conformada por Atlético Paranaense, Deportes Tolima y Jorge Wilstermann, el equipo de Alfaro terminó en el primer puesto, siendo el único club argentino en pasar de ronda en esa ubicación. El azar determinó que el cuadro brasileño se cruzara en su camino otra vez. La primera meta fue cumplida; el entrenador aguarda por el arribo de refuerzos para ir por el objetivo mayor.
4 · CAMPEÓN EN LA SUPERCOPA ARGENTINA
La final contra Rosario Central en Mendoza era un arma de doble filo. Boca tenía la responsabilidad de bordar otra estrella en su escudo ante un rival que no venía para nada bien. Si bien el Xeneize mereció mejor suerte durante los 90 minutos, su efectividad en la tanda de penales lo hizo celebrar por un título más. Un lauro que probablemente no tenga mayor relevancia con respecto a otros pero que simbolizó mucho para la unión de grupo y fortaleza mental de cara a lo que vendría.
X · LA COPA DE LA SUPERLIGA
Clasificado directamente a los octavos de final por haber culminado entre los seis mejores de la Superliga, Boca eliminó sin mayores dificultades a Godoy Cruz y luego se topó con Vélez en cuartos. El Fortín hizo méritos para vencerlo aunque no pudo quebrar el cero del marcador global y los penales -otra vez- le sonrieron a Alfaro. En las semifinales completó un buen partido en La Paternal contra Argentinos Juniors y, si bien dejó algunas dudas en la Bombonera, selló el pase a la final por la mínima. En Córdoba Boca hizo méritos pero la falta de efectividad en la ofensiva y los groseros errores en la última línea le extirparon la copa de las manos.
X · LA IDENTIDAD FUTBOLÍSTICA
Los objetivos deportivos no fueron los únicos mandamientos a cumplir para el estratega azul y oro, quien reconoce que a su equipo le falta vuelo e identidad futbolística para terminar de ser confiable y conformar así a propios y extraños. Los retoques en el plantel durante el mercado de pases serán fundamentales para que Alfaro refleje en cancha el ADN que pretende para su once. Es el punto que confía dar vuelta de mediano a largo plazo.
LO QUE SE VIENE
Lejos del conformismo, Alfaro quiere preparar a su Boca para un segundo semestre en el que la obsesión será nuevamente levantar la séptima Libertadores. Además, la nueva temporada de la Superliga traerá nuevos encuentros superclásicos ante River, con la chance latente de sacarse la espina luego del último duelo en Madrid.
A la competencia del campeonato local se le sumará también la copa nacional. En Copa Argentina, Boca se enfrentará con Almagro por los 16avos de final y, en caso de pasar, chocará con Banafield o Talleres de Córdoba. Y en los cuartos de final puede llegar a haber un nuevo duelo ante el Millonario, que es favorito en su llave.
