Benedetti, quien se reconoce como sobreviviente de abuso sexual eclesiástico, está peleando para reabrir una de las tres causas en las que Giménez fue denunciado. Bajo el hashtag #PedofiliaSinPrescripción, Benedetti reclama «que el Congreso trate los proyectos de ley sobre imprescriptibilidad del abuso sexual infantil», entre los que destaca el de la diputada radical Lorena Matzen.
«Que se declare imprescriptible este tipo de delitos implicaría una sanación a la vez personal y como sociedad; pero además disponer de más herramientas para la prevención de estas acciones aberrantes», dijo Benedetti, quien tenía 8 años cuando fue abusado pero recién pudo «tomar conciencia» de esto y «recordar los detalles» más de 40 años después.
