(CABA) El pasado sábado César Aira cumplió 70 años y la Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno decidió homenajearlo con un Festival. La cita fue en la Plaza del Lector y aunque el escritor vivo más influyente de nuestra literatura no asistió al festejo, sí lo hizo Michael Gaeb, su agente literario. Parabuenosaires.com habló en exclusiva con el alemán que estudió Literatura y Filosofía y, luego de trabajar en el mundo editorial y en diversas ferias del libro, dirige desde 2003 una agencia de representación literaria que lleva su nombre.
“Aira me atrapó desde el primer día que lo leí”, confiesa el profesional que representa a 110 escritores y conoció al vecino de Flores en la Feria de Guadalajara de 2002.

Actualmente lo está editando en 33 países y esa cifra crece cada día. “Hay muy poco material sin editar aún. Le está yendo muy bien en Estados Unidos, Francia y Alemania”, cuenta de manera tranquila, disfrutando del éxito de su representado.
El hombre, que dice ser “Aira fuera de Argentina”, selecciona las tapas y cuida cada detalle de cada editorial, sostiene que el escritor “en algunos países supera las ediciones con media de 2000 ejemplares”, algo impensado hace unos años. Está reeditando muchas obras en otros países y asegura que “las editoriales buscan tener muchos títulos del autor”. En ese sentido, cabe destacar que hay obras como Moreira, que Aira prefirió no reeditarla u otras que apenas las corrige.
El próximo título que sumará a su obra es El Presidente, para cuya presentación en la Feria del Libro posiblemente Gaeb regrese. Se trata del trabajo 103 de Aira, el cual en exclusiva se sabe que tendrá unas 100 páginas y que fue escrito en 2017.

“Aira es infinito. Lo admiro como escritor y como persona, es sencillo y formidable”, afirma el representante, a quien le parece increíble que haya un Museo en el propio barrio de Aira en el que expongan sus materiales. Si el tiempo le daba, esta semana se daría una vuelta por el Museo Barrio de Flores (Ramón L. Falcón 1893).
Sobre el motivo por el que no concurrió el autor de Cómo me hice monja a su homenaje, Gaeb dio a entender que no le gustan los eventos donde él es el protagonista. A pesar de haber sido publicado en grandes medios como Perfil y Pagina12, además de La Nación y Clarín, el Festival – que era de entrada libre y gratuita – fue muy tranquilo y no superó las 150 personas.
Considerado por algunos críticos como el mayor escritor de la era post-Borges, Aira fue finalista en 2015 del Man Booker International y es el único argentino que aparece regularmente en los listados de apuestas del Premio Nobel de Literatura.
