(CABA) El jefe de Gobierno porteño, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, anunció que «la Ciudad de Buenos Aires se convirtió en la primera capital de América Latina con alumbrado público 100% LED», gracias al cumplimiento del compromiso de Gobierno «Iluminación LED en todas las calles«.
«También somos una de las primeras ciudades de todo el mundo que implementó este sistema», expresó Rodríguez Larreta.

Además, el Jefe de Gobierno porteño indicó que «en la filosofía del cuidado del medio ambiente éste es un paso enorme en un día histórico», y agregó: «Las luces LED consumen la mitad de energía, duran muchísimo más tiempo y ofrecen una mejor luminosidad».
En esa línea reconoció que «esto también ayuda a mejorar la seguridad», y destacó el sistema de Telegestión: «Ahora podremos saber si hay una bombilla quemada para reemplazarla en el momento».

De la actividad también participó el ministro de Ambiente y Espacio Público porteño, Eduardo Macchiavelli, quien dijo que este «enorme salto tecnológico también coincide con el Día del Medio Ambiente», y apuntó: «Además de contribuir muchísimo a la naturaleza se ahorra más del 50% en electricidad, que equivale al consumo de 25.000 hogares por año».
En esa línea manifestó que con el sistema de Telegestión «la Ciudad ahorrará un 30% en gasto de mantenimiento».
En la primera mitad del 2013 la Ciudad contaba con 125.000 luminarias. Entonces se comenzaron a instalar las primeras luces LED en las principales avenidas, como en la traza del Metrobus de la 9 de Julio.
Durante 2016 se realizaron numerosas obras de infraestructura e incorporación de columnas y luces adicionales en diferentes cuadras.
Un año más tarde se alcanzaron las 112.000 luminarias y en 2018 se llegó a las 142.000.
Actualmente, la Ciudad cuenta con más de 160.000 (para fin de año se habrán instalado 165.000), es decir que el 100% de los barrios ya dispone de esta tecnología.
Este sistema también permite controlar todas las luminarias de la Ciudad desde el Centro de Telegestión y Monitoreo. Allí se puede bajar o subir la intensidad de la luz de manera individual, detectar fallas, programar reemplazos y tareas de mantenimiento.

La implementación de esta tecnología conlleva más potencia de luz que las lámparas tradicionales, disminución de la emisión de gases contaminantes y dispersión de luz, y una mejora en la visibilidad de los conductores y peatones.
La repartición implica 78.000 luces LED en calles, 34.000 en avenidas, 34.000 en peatonales y 14.000 en espacios verdes.
En este contexto, la Ciudad está llevando a cabo el programa «Pasate a LED» con el objetivo de que los vecinos puedan cambiar sus lámparas tradicionales a LED en los Puntos Verdes ubicados en las plazas y parques.
En el marco de esta iniciativa se entregarán 5.000.000 de lámparas LED, las cuales permiten un ahorro del 90% de energía y presentan una vida útil de diez años.
Cada vecino puede cambiar hasta cinco lámparas y el recambio se realiza de miércoles a domingo de 11 a 19 horas en 50 Puntos Verdes.
Todos los 5 de junio se celebra el Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente, establecido en 1972 por la Asamblea General de Naciones Unidas, cuyo fin es concientizar a la población sobre su cuidado. NR
