La ONG Aves Argentinas realizará este domingo una jornada de actividades recreativas para concientizar contra el tráfico y el mascotismo de fauna silvestre. El evento “Más vale volando” arrancará a partir de las 15 en el Parque Centenario, ubicado en el barrio porteño de Caballito.
Se trata de una jornada al aire libre, en la que se pondrán en marcha diversas actividades para todas las edades, con el foco de difundir la problemática del tráfico ilegal de animales, el impacto que genera en las especies traficadas, el perjuicio para cada ejemplar víctima y el potencial conflicto entre humanos y animales cuando la mascota es un animal con hábitos salvajes.
Juegos, murales, charlas y coloquios con especialistas, pinturas artística en vivo de la mano de Eki Bessada y liberación de aves rescatadas y rehabilitadas serán algunas de las propuestas que se realizarán el día de mañana.
También habrá una muestra de trabajos de estudiantes de diseño industrial inspirados en especies de la fauna argentina afectados por el tráfico y sorteos.
La iniciativa tendrá lugar a las 15 hs junto al lago del Parque Centenario. Sus organizadores son los voluntarios del Programa Tráfico Ilegal de Fauna Silvestre de Aves Argentinas con el apoyo de la Agencia de Protección Ambiental del Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires Azara, la Fundación Caburé-í y el Ecoparque Interactivo.
El festival “Más Vale Volando“, que se realiza desde 2013 busca a través juegos, arte y talleres concientizar a la comunidad sobre esta gran amenaza que afecta a la fauna nativa.
Un problema nacional
El tráfico ilegal es una de las amenazas más importantes que enfrenta la fauna local junto con la modificación y pérdida de hábitat. El negocio implica la compra y venta a gran escala de especies tanto como mascotas como sus subproductos, como alimento, medicina, piel, trofeos o amuletos.
En Argentina, la captura, acopio, transporte, compra y venta ilegal de animales silvestres constituye un delito en todo el territorio nacional.
Se estima que cerca de 9 de cada 10 ejemplares capturados mueren en la intrincada red que comprende el tráfico antes de poder ser comprados. Hoy en día, el avance de las redes sociales y los sitios de venta por internet facilitan la expansión de este negocio ilegal.
Más de la mitad de los animales afectados por este comercio son aves, buscadas por su canto y belleza e incluso llevadas al borde de la extinción, como es el caso del cardenal amarillo (Gubernatrix cristata).
El cardenal común, la reinamora, el loro hablador y el tordo amarillo son algunas de las especies de aves que más amenazadas por el tráfico ilegal que se estima que afecta a alrededor del 10% de las 1000 especies de aves que hay en la Argentina, informó Aves Argentinas.
La ONG es la organización ambiental más antigua de Latinoamérica, que con más de 100 años de trayectoria, trabaja para salvar las aves silvestres y la naturaleza de la Argentina.
